Chocolate #9
RunnerBox subscribers will get to try out a gel called Chocolate #9 in the next cycle of boxes shipping out. This is a unique gel because it is stated to be the first and only certified low glycemic energy gel. It is sweetened with organic agave only, no refined sugar or high glycemic index sweeteners. The Low GI factor reduces the the negative effect of repetitive insulin spiking during sustained exercise- so less chance of sugar highs and "bonk". This is great particularly for endurance athletes, diabetics, sugar sensitivities or anyone choosing not to eat refined sugar. Its also vegan, low fat, and gluten free (gluten free gels are not easy to find btw). No preservatives, colorings, etc. And it tastes good. Really good. It comes in one flavor, chocolate. It is a Belgian style dark roast cocoa mixed with agave- a simple all natural gel. We are excited to share this awesome gel with you. Check out the website at www.chocolate9.com
Learn moreMila Recipes
The February/March RunnerBox has Mila for everyone to try...so thought we'd share some recipes from the Lifemax site. The first one is perfect for Valentine's Day! Mila Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries 9 ounces dark chocolate, chopped 1 pound strawberries with stems (about 20) washed and dried well 1/2 scoop Mila, about 1 Tablespoon Put the dark chocolate into a heatproof medium bowl. Fill a medium saucepan with a couple inches of water and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Turn off the heat; set the bowl of chocolate over the water to melt. Stir until smooth. (or use microwave at half power at one minute intervals to melt). Once the chocolate is melted and smooth, remove from heat and add Mila. Line a sheet pan with parchment or waxed paper. Holding the strawberry by the stem dip the fruit into the chocolate, letting the excess drip into the bowl. Set the berries on the parchment paper. Repeat and drizzle with any remaining chocolate. Let sit for 30 minutes or until set. Quick & Easy Energy Gel 2 pitted dates 2 tablespoons Mila plus 1/2 cup water Blend on high and put in gel bottle or ziplock bag and bite off corner when ready to eat/ingest. This recipe was created by Diane and Michael and The Vibrant Kitchen, and it is simple and good! Hope you enjoy trying out your Mila!

This is the time of year many are planning their race calendars for next year, and beginning to train for upcoming races. Training is the perfect time to experiment with new products, to see how the affect you, and how you like them- on easier workouts or before race day. We’ve chosen some great products and hope you like them as much as we do! One long time favorite coming to you in this first box is Accel Gel. The difference between Accel and many other gels is that it has a patented 4:1 ratio of carbs to protein, so you get 50% better muscle recover, delivering rapid energy to your working muscles, and it’s all natural. Many gels are all carbs, so you may feel that “crash” that comes later when your blood glucose drops back down. The protein in this gel helps to stabilize that. Accel also tastes great- it’s thinner than most gels so it’s goes down easy- nice bonus! It comes in chocolate (20 mg caffeine), vanilla, strawberry kiwi, raspberry cream (40mg caffeine), key lime, and citrus orange. They also have an Accel 2nd surge gel, with a kick of 100mg caffeine in chocolate and espresso flavors- also excellent! The 2nd surge has 3gm of protein compared to the regular Accel’s 5 gm. They have a variety of flavors for every taste- from sweet chocolate, tart raspberry, smooth coffee, and in between. Try it.. it think you’ll like it! What races do you have on the calendar for 2013?
